I wanted to give all of our users a quick update just to let them know that we’re still very actively working on and thinking about the plugin. We really appreciate your comments, and I intend to answer each of them individually as soon as time permits.
From your feedback, I’ve gathered a few requests that seem to pop up over and over again, so I’ll try to address those in the next update. There are also some things I’ve like to add to the plugin myself, so between your suggestions and my ideas, we should have a lot to do!
Here’s what I’ve got in terms of things you’d like us to add for the next release(s):
- An option to display multiple post locations on a single map that would allow visitors to click on a pin and be directed to the associated post.
- An option that would have the map presented in an “always on” style rather than the “on hover” style.
- Additional tags that would allow compatibility with various standards such as GeoRSS, etc.
- Support for additional mapping APIs such as Bing Maps, Yahoo Maps, etc.
Am I missing anything? Let me know in the comments on this post!

We just published a minor update to the plugin for all of you geotaggers out there.
You can download it here right now:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/geolocation/download/
In this update we:
- Added the ability to turn geolocation on and off for individual posts.
- Made sure the Admin Panel no longer shows up when editing a page.
- Removed the display of latitude and longitude on mouse hover.
- Ensured the map link color now defaults to your theme.
- Made clicking the map link do nothing. (Previously it would redirect you to the top of the page. No fun!)
Let me know if there’s anything you don’t like about this update. And as always, your feature requests, comments, and feedback are all much appreciated!
Also: If you haven’t already given the plugin a star rating or a works/broken designation, those help us out immensely. And if you have, you are awesome.

This is the WordPress Geolocation plugin in action. Once installed, you can add geographical data to your post using the Geolocation panel on the Edit Post page. Once your post is published, you’ll see a link describing the geo data that you attached. When a user hovers over the link, they’ll see a simple but powerful interactive map.
If you’re a WordPress for iPhone or WordPress for BlackBerry user, you can instantly geotag your posts using the built-in geotagging features in these apps.
Whether you’re trying to find your lost pet, remember where you had a phenomenal lunch, show your photobug friends the best location for an ideal shot, or just want to give your readers an added level of insight, this plugin will help you seamlessly add geo data into your posts.
